At each Cuddles Childcare Centre in the Perth area, we talk to parents about a variety of issues. One of the most common questions we get is, “When is the best time to take our child to a child care centre?”
Ultimately, there is no “one size fits all” answer to this question. Everyone’s situation is different. There are many factors to consider, including the needs of your child and your work situation. Here are some things to keep in mind about your child and child care.
Babies 0-18 Months
Babies need a lot of one on one attention from their carer. That is no problem at Cuddles Childcare Centres, because we have a dedicated baby room and a very high carer to baby ratio. If you are thinking of taking your baby to a childcare centre, visit a few times and make sure babies there have plenty of attention and enough carers.
Toddlers 18 Months to 3 Years

Toddlers also need a lot of attention and a high carer to child ratio. The carers need to be patient and they need to know how to help your toddler grow. Toddlers are just beginning to explore the world around them and they need nurturing and support. The carers must be able to help toddlers make sense of the new information they take in.
Preschoolers 3 Years to 5 Years
Preschoolers thrive in childcare centres because they get a “head start” on socialising with their peers. They not only learn social skills, but they are also sharpening their language skills. It is important that carers never talk down to children. Instead, they should always talk to children as though they are little adults. As far as we’re concerned, that’s exactly what they are. They need guidance and mentoring.
Choosing a Childcare Centre in Perth
We think the main considerations are whether your child is ready for a childcare centre and the quality of the care at the childcare centre.
