If you need child care in Cannington or any Perth suburb, it is worth your while to learn about the Child Care Rebate (CCR). The CCR is Government assistance for child care that is not income-tested. Here are the requirements.
Child Care Rebate (CCR) Requirements
To receive the CCR, you have to be using child care that is CCB (Child Care Benefit) approved. You also need to be eligible for the CCB, even at a rate of zero. You also have to “pass” the work, training, study test.
You have to claim CCB if you want CCR. Even if the income test renders you ineligible for CCB, you can claim zero and are eligible for CCR.
The work, training, study test is simple. You or your partner has to be working, training or studying or have an exemption. There is no requirement for hours.
CCB approved care means child care that is approved by the Government. Any child care individual or facility has to meet stringent requirements to be approved for CCB. This can be a long day care facility such as any Cuddles Childcare Centre, family day care, occasional care, in home care or outside school hours care.
If you need to know whether or not a service is CCB approved, you can find out on the MyChild website. You can also contact your state’s Child Care Benefit Approval Team on 1300 653 227.
Child Care Rebate Limits
If you are eligible for CCR, you can receive up to 50% of your out of pocket expenses for child care, up to a limit of $7,500 per child during a one year period. Out of pocket expenses are defined as the amount you pay after any other assistance, such as CCB or Jobs, Education and Training Child Care Assistance (JETCCA) are subtracted from your child care costs.
