If you have a baby and are looking for a child care centre in Kewdale, you are in the right place. We now have a dedicated space for babies in all of our Cuddles Childcare Centres in the Perth area. We have a lot of fun with the babies and have learned a lot about what keeps them happy and helps them develop. Here are some tips for helping your baby develop during the first year.
Because your baby can’t talk, you may think he or she isn’t learning anything, but they learn more in their first year than any year of their lives. The first thing you want to do is get them into a simple routine: eat, sleep, play, repeat. It is great if you talk and sing to your child. Always talk to your child as if he or she understands what you are saying. On some level, babies do understand you.
Play simple games with your baby. Make sure to smile back at your child when they smile at you. You will also want to adjust your child’s positioning often, from back to tummy to side.
From 4-8 months, your baby will be more active. This gives even more chances for bonding and fun. It can be a lot of fun for both of you if you mimic your child’s sounds and actions. You can also find more “games” to play. Laugh with your baby as much as possible. Also, at this age, you can start reading to your baby out of books that have bright, simple pictures.
At this age, you can introduce taking turns into games. It can be good for them if you put a toy just out of their reach and have them crawl or walk towards it. Make sure to tell them how great they did when they reach it. You can give your older baby finger foods of different textures and tastes.
