From 2 July 2018, your childcare assistance from Centrelink will change. The new Child Care Subsidy will replace your Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR).
Child Care Subsidy Assessment
This transition is not automatic.
To transition, you will need to complete an online Child Care Subsidy assessment using your Centrelink online account through myGov.
You will be asked to provide some new information and confirm your current details, including:
If you have not already received it, you will receive a letter from Centrelink by the end of April with instructions to complete your online assessment through myGov.
If you do not complete your assessment before 2 July 2018, you may not receive any child care fee assistance.
Child Care Subsidy – What’s New
- The Child Care Subsidy will be paid directly to services.
- Families earning less than $187,710* will have no cap on the amount of child care they can receive.
- Families earning over $187,710* and under $350,000* will benefit from an increase in the current cap of $7613 to $10,000 per child, per year.
*these amounts may be subject to adjustment through indexation.
Step 2. Link myGov to Centrelink. You can do this under Services.
Step 3. Select Centrelink and complete the Child Care Subsidy Assessment.
