If you are looking for a childcare centre in the Perth area, you may be eligible for a Child Care Benefit (CCB) from the Government. CCB is designed to help you afford child care. If you are eligible, you can receive CCB in one lump sum payment or you can receive it throughout the year as reduced fees.
The CCB is based on your income level. Child Care Services usually processes the payment directly, helping you reduce your payments for childcare. CCB can be applied for via Centrelink or in person. If you would like to apply online, you may do so at the Department of Human Services website.
There are some basic requirements to be eligible for CCB.
- Your child must attend registered or approved child care.
- You or your partner should meet the criteria for residency and your child must have all required immunisations.
- You have to be the person actually paying the fees.
How Much CCB Can You Receive?
The amount fluctuates. It is based on your income, which type of care your child is receiving, how much child care you use, why you are using it and the number of children you have going to child care.
The Work, Training, Study Test
The work, training, study test is just as it sounds. Work, training and study are the conditions that fulfil the requirements for CCB. This is also called a “work-related commitment.” If you are working, looking for work, training, studying or volunteering to do free work to enhance your work skills, you will be eligible for CCB on up to 24 hours of child care for each child you have.
If you are working, studying or training for more than 15 hours a week, you are eligible for up to 50 hours of child care every week.
