Are you looking for a childcare centre in Wellard or elsewhere in the Perth area but don’t know if you can afford child care? There is a good chance that you are eligible for one or more subsides to help defray the cost of child care. We would like to tell you about a few of them. More information is available at www.careforkids.com.au/.
Child Care Benefit
The Child Care Benefit, also known as CCB, is available for up to 24 hours a week if you aren’t working or up to 50 hours a week if you are working. It can be taken as reduced fees throughout the school year or paid in a lump sum at the end of the year.
CCB is determined by your family income. For the maximum amount, your income must be less than $40,000 per year. To determine the rates, a sliding scale is used, taking into account the number of children who need care and your family income.
Depending on the amount of children you have and the amount of money you make, you may not be eligible, but our experience has been that if you don’t know whether or not you can afford child care, your income level makes you eligible. And even if you aren’t eligible for CCB, you may be eligible for a Child Care Rebate.
Child Care Rebate
The Child Care Rebate, also known as CCR, can cover up to half of your child care expenses up to a maximum amount of $7,500 for each child each year. This rebate is paid into your bank account quarterly and is not currently means tested.
Grandparent Child Care Benefit
The Grandparent Child Care Benefit, also known as GCCB, helps grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. They cover the full cost of child care and can be claimed for up to 50 hours a week.
